Sucker Rod Coupling Removal
Sucker Rod Coupling Removal can be cumbersome, slow, and costly. With the right jig welded to the side of your rod racks operators can manually break out T couplings with a pipe wrench, however, they introduce large stress risers and the coupling should be refurbished at a proper facility. Spray Metal couplings are nearly impossible to get a good bite with a pipe wrench so operators require special friction wrenches. No matter your application, in-plant or in the field, we have a solution for your coupling breaking needs.
Born from our CD Rod Tong™ the In-Plant Coupling Breaker allows sucker rod inspection facilities to offer Sucker Rod Coupling Removal services at a low cost. The unit removes couplings faster than the current industry offerings, one operator that is capable of removing over 2700 couplings per shift! That’s a coupling removed every 10 seconds for 8 hours straight! Time is money, the faster your production line is able to remove couplings the more product you can move through your plant. Some of our clients are removing much less than 2,700 couplings per day, in those cases they’re able to utilize that manpower in other areas of their facility once the couplings have been removed.
2 coupling breaker models have been designed for your operations. The V2 Sucker Rod Coupling Breaker uses a camming action to close on the coupling and is useful for quick removal of couplings, this unit tends to mark over-torqued connections due to the wedging action. The major benefit is that this unit handles a size range if you have worn couplings. The V3 Hydraulic Friction Wrench Coupling Breaker works similar to a manual friction wrench, size-dependent dies have less of tolerance than the V2 Coupling breaker however due to the nature of the design this unit tends to not mark the rod at all.
